Life happens. Sometimes it’s good, and sometimes it bad. Like losing a job you had for fifteen years.
But I’m still writing. Worked n a story for NaNoWriMo in 2014 that I decided to try to publish – when it’s done. Used NaNoWriMo 2015 to work on a much needed update to it. Looks like it’s probably going to run around 150K words when I’m done with it. And what was originally a stand-alone story became a trilogy part of the way through the story. So, that should be interesting.
Well, it’s been a while. I did this years NaNoWriMo and succeeded, but that’s because I wrote in four separate stories. Managed to bash quite a bit of some needed stuff into shape in each of the stories.
Trying to remember to post stuff to this blog – I spent so long ignoring it after the massive slowdown with the old host that I forget that it works much faster now. Nothing really to report other than that I’m writing fanfiction at the moment while the other two original stories are percolating.
I now am on a new host, and am very happy with it. Much faster connectivity, which means that I just might be using the blog more often, because I won’t have the frustration of waiting for the site to do anything at all coloring everything.
Still working on fan fictions at the moment, but I’m writing, which is the important thing.
Between Sandy and the post-NaNoWriMo writing let-down (it’s always hard to pick up again after pushing so hard), it’s been a while since my last posting to this blog. Not sure anyone’s even following me anymore.
Be that as it may be, I am writing again. Admittedly, at the moment it’s fanfiction for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, but as far as I’m concerned, I’m writing. That is the most important thing. And as I work along, ideas for other stories for eventual publication trickle in. Two stories have stalled because the endings want to change on me as I’m writing. Not good if I’m aiming for one and I’m getting the other.
I will continue to post here as I have ideas (assuming that I can manage a good connection – another reason I’ve not been posting is the inability to get to my own websites, what with the server being horribly slow. I’m moving my hosting, so that should change soon.
Well, Hurricane Sandy and a Nor’easter did a number on my word count. No power and no heat, and no real ability to get anywhere else for a while to write kicked me in the teeth. At least I’m a verbose S.O.B. – I’m about three days behind now, coming from a very late beginning.
Plan on doing it this year, but I’m trying to decide on the story. I’m got a novel or two I’ve been trying to muck around with, and I could use the month to work on one of those, or I could do a complete rewrite of one of the fanfics I wrote during NaNo a few years ago.
We’ll see. I’ll try to keep this site updated with whatever choice I make.
Mainly due to busy-ness. (Not business.)
Also, there was more than a little problem with WP talking with PHP – I upgraded that, and now things seem to be connecting better.
I intend to NaNo again this year – we’ll see how it goes.
Well, we’re getting close to NaNoWriMo time, and I’m trying to decide what to do. It’ll be an original story, that much I know. The question is – which one? I’ve got Silver and Sea-Foam, which currently sits at just under 17,000 words. That one should be really easy to expand out to novel size. The other one is my sci-fi story set in my Wynd Jaaymeson universe. Working title is currently “Robe of Stars”, but I know that’s going to change.
As for the anthology? My second story is pretty much accepted. I was even allowed to break the 5,000 word mark by permission of the publisher. This should really help me in a later attempt to get published – selling a story once is one thing, but managing a second sale shows a potential publisher that someone liked me enough to buy again.
I’ll see about updating a bit more often during this upcoming month, and during November.
I’ve posted two stories for consideration, but right now, I’m thinking I’m the only one doing anything for this anthology, which would mean no anthology.
I’ll drop an email to the group to see if anyone else has anything.
